Ambedkar Classic, Annihilation of Caste

Annihilation of Caste is a classic work by Dr. Ambedkar. It embodies the thoughts of a revolutionary of how caste and religion abuses individuals - socially, ethically, and financially. Initially imagined as a speech for Jat-Pat-Todak Mandal, an association of Caste Hindu Social Reformers, it was later published by Ambedkar himself, for the association wouldn't permit him to give his speech in its original form.

Clear, direct, and ground-breaking, the text gives a careful knowledge of how and in what way does caste torment the lives of millions. There is a fundamental resentment coordinated towards long periods of ridiculous foul play.

The most despicable aspect of Hinduism is the way, that both the way of thinking and religion is so unpredictably weaved around its center belief system. In spite of the fact that caste has been protested by numerous leaders and contemporaries already before Ambedkar, from Raja Ram Mohan Roy to Mahatma Gandhi, it has consistently sprung back with a revived power, for it got its root from the crucial way of thinking of the Hinduism. What is progressively ongoing and unstoppably fearless about Ambedkar and this work is that he addresses the very authority of the vedas, upanishads and manusmritis itself.

What is More Important; Statue Or A Public Library?

A lot of you would be in your 20s and that the letter which follows will resonate with your
aspirations and hopes from the government. During a time when our government would rather
spend thousands of crores on a statue rather than building hospitals, schools, etc, in the name
of nationalism, I believe the following letter to the Editor of ‘The Chronicle’ by Dr Bhimrao Ramji
Ambedkar is especially an important read for everyone.

Dr Ambedkar wrote this letter when he was a post-graduate student at Columbia University,
New York, United States of America and was in his 20s. He sent this letter on a proposal by the
Bombay Municipal Corporation to erect a statue of Sir Phirozshah Mehta in Bombay.

Referring to this above proposal, Baba Saheb Dr Ambedkar wrote, “Permit me to say that
individually I regard this particular form of Sir P. M. Mehta memorial to be very trivial and
unbecoming, to say the least. I have been at pains to understand why his memorial cannot
be in a form which will not only be a true memorial of him but will be of permanent use to posterity. As combining these two purposes, I would suggest that in my humble opinion the memorial of Sir P. M. Mehta should be in the form of a public library in Bombay to be called
Sir Pherozshah Mehta Library.”

Labour and Parliamentary Democracy / Dr. B. R. Ambedkar

I present a classic speech by Baba Saheb Dr B. R. Ambedkar on Labour and Parliamentary Democracy. He delivered this speech at All India Trade Union Workers' Study Camp, held in Delhi from 8th to 17th September 1943.

In this classic speech, Dr Ambedkar put forward his views on Labour organizations in India. He discussed the causes of success and failures of Parliamentary Democracy. He said, "The Labouring classes have failed to acquaint itself with literature dealing with the government of mankind. Everyone from the Labouring Classes should be acquainted with Rousseau’s Social contract, Marx’s Communist Manifesto, Pope Leo XIII’s Encyclical on the conditions of Labour and John Stuart Mill on Liberty, to mention only four of the basic programmatic documents on social and governmental organization of modern times. But the labouring classes will not give them the attention they deserve. Instead labour has taken delight reading false and fabulous stories of ancient kings and queens and has become addicted to it."

While closing his argument at the Worker's study camp at Delhi,"I am therefore very glad to find that the Indian Federation of Labour has recognized this defect and has come forward to open these study circles for the Labouring Classes. They are going to be the most effective means of making Labour fit to govern."

Do you think that the labouring class will bother themselves to govern the country?

Together We Can Win the World!

Ambedkar Online

This blog, Ambedkar Online, delves into the life of Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar - popularly known as the father of the Indian Constitution.

Ambedkar Online will discover Dr. B. R. Ambedkar as the man who transformed a billion lives and a Mahatama. As a Statesman, he championed the emancipation of more than 300 million people who had been historically victims of social exclusion. Dr. Ambedkar fought inch by inch for reclaiming the human persona of Dalits, Adivasis, and women of India.

Having experienced denial and access of water as a child from the same Matka that his fellow students used while studying in a primary school, Dr. Ambedkar rose as a stalwart and champion leading the historical struggle at Mahad, now in Maharashtra,  to establish the equal rights of Dalits over the public water.  And he did not stop there. As the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of India's Constitution, he steered away founding fathers of India from archaic Manusmiriti to the Constitution of the Modern Indian Republic abolishing historical disabilities, including untouchability. His legacy includes the ex-untouchables and women of India, who rose to the highest positions in Independent India, which is unparalleled even now compared to the people living in similar circumstances elsewhere in the world.

This blog will curate the process of transformation brought about by Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar, who was one of the most qualified men during his time and a constitutional expert. He had studied the constitutions of more than 50 countries before drafting the Indian Constitution and is known as the “Father of the Constitution of India”.

Following Bharat Ratna Dr. B R Ambedkar's final advice, "Educate, Agitate and Organise; have faith in yourself", Ambedkar Online will be a crusader seeking justice - social, economic, and political - for the downtrodden of India. The Ambedkar Online is dedicated to the reclamation of human personality and the Equal Dignity of All.

Ambedkar Online is a content studio, striving to be an authentic and genuine repository of knowledge. It will entertain its audience with audio-visuals, writings and speeches, articles, research, relevant literature, daily quotations, quizzes, and much more. Ambedkar Online assures you exemplary insights into the life, struggles, achievement, and dilemmas of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

As Dr. B. R. Ambedkar said, “A great man is different from an eminent one in that he is ready to be the servant of the society.” Ambedkar Online is at your disposal and seeks your indulgence in helping yourselves and people around you.

Finally don't forget the fundamental commandment of Baba Saheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, "Educate, agitate, and organize; have faith in yourselves. With Justice on our side, I do not see how we can lose our battle."

Let's gear ourselves for educating & organizing. Collectively, we can win the World!

Thank you and Jai Bhim!
